Summer Holiday France 2016

and she's off..............................................................................

We stayed at Merle Court again - for the last time. Having booked well in advance they managed to put us behind the toilet block in probably the worst pitch we have ever been on - quick visit to reception sorted it.

Good crossing to Cherbourg and we headed off to Barfleur on the east coast of Normandy, nice little harbour. Headed south to St Vaast for our first night stop. Aire was nice and close to the coast and the town centre, walked along the sea defences before heading the other way into town around the marina and getting comfortable with a beer (not the picture above). Unfortunately it was a bit windy and the sun shade from the next table was blown over and knocked over LRM's drink, smashing it onto the walkway. Her hand started shaking straight away but fortunately they replaced it !!!

Travelled down to Utah beach and had a nice time walking around the memorials.

Realised that we could not stay over night at the Utah site and moved on to the aire at St Mere Eglise, pleasant enough, lots of grass and plenty of space.

Headed towards the West coast of Normandy and spent a few days visiting Gouville, Agon-Coutainville, St Coulumb before heading for the large aire in St Malo - it has a free bus that takes you to the walled city. Quite night before heading for the bus and the old city next day. We have visited before but it is always nice to walk around the battlements and the old city. Had a very nice lunch in a restaurant just by the battlements. Really nice day.

On the road again heading for Tregastel - west of St Malo and north of Morlaix - the Pink Granite Coast !!

Still travelling West we stayed at St Pol de Leon - where the picture of Lorraine with the beers was taken - lovely beach and cove. Headed South to Quiberon via Concarneau, Guidel Plages and Port Louis which is just opposite Lorient.
